Essential Accessories

Sauna bucket and ladle — for pouring water on the heater stones to create löyly (steam). A wooden bucket and ladle is the traditional choice.

Thermometer and hygrometer — to monitor temperature and humidity. Most Wellness One saunas include a thermometer, but a combined thermometer/hygrometer gives a complete picture of conditions.

Sauna towels — large, absorbent towels for sitting on the bench and drying off after the session. Linen sauna towels are the traditional choice.

Sauna brush — a long-handled brush for scrubbing the skin before or after the sauna session.

Premium Additions

Birch whisk (vihta) — a bundle of birch branches used to gently beat the skin. Stimulates circulation and releases aromatic compounds. Fresh birch whisks are available in summer; dried whisks can be rehydrated in warm water.

Essential oils — a few drops of eucalyptus, pine, or birch oil added to the water poured on the stones creates an aromatic steam. Use only sauna-specific essential oils.

Sand timer — a traditional 15-minute sand timer for timing sessions.

Sauna hat — a felt or wool hat worn in the sauna to protect the head from intense heat. Popular in Finland and increasingly used in the UK.

Maintenance Products

Sauna wood cleaner — a mild, pH-neutral cleaner for the interior wood surfaces.

Exterior wood oil — for annual treatment of the exterior cladding. Use a product specifically designed for thermally modified wood.
