First, the household questions
Before you compare two quotations, be honest about the house the sauna would actually live in.
- Who will use it? Regular users, occasional guests, children, someone who needs easier access — the layout should follow the people, not a model name.
- How often? A sauna you will use through the week is a different decision from one you hope to use. Frequency is a household fact, not a running-cost figure.
- Will the garden and access work? Gates, corners, slopes, overhead wires, a crane if sections cannot be carried. Delivery day is a poor moment to discover the route.
- What must be on the quotation? Model and drawing revision, heater, electrics, base, access, delivery, VAT, exclusions, and the guarantee terms. If a line is missing, it is not included.
Property-value stories and gym-membership maths do not belong here. Whether a Wellness One outdoor sauna is “worth it” is a household judgement, not an investment product.
What a written quotation must show
Ask every supplier — including us — to put the same things on paper:
- Model and drawing revision. The catalogue name is not the building. The current drawing is.
- Heater. Manufacturer, model, and the UK manual. Electrical design starts here.
- Electrics. Who designs, installs and certifies the dedicated circuit. Approved Document P is the England framework; the electrician still has to apply it to your property.
- Base. Who designs and builds it, to which drawing, with drainage.
- Access and delivery. Route, unloading, lifting, making good. Who pays if the site is not ready.
- VAT. Inclusive price, deposits, payment milestones.
- Exclusions. Anything not written down is a future conversation. Make it a present one.
- Guarantee terms. The signed document, not a web-page duration. Statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 sit beside it.
If a brochure, a website image and the quotation disagree, the accepted quotation and its referenced specification should control the order. Ask Wellness One to say which document wins.
Running cost, without a made-up bill
How much electricity a session uses depends on the heater, how long you heat and hold, how often you use it, the weather, and your tariff. Wellness One does not publish a pounds-per-year or pounds-per-session figure here, because we do not have a measured kWh method tied to a named tariff. Insulation and build quality affect how the room holds heat; they do not become a running-cost promise without that method.
How to compare two quotations
Put them side by side on the headings above. Leave a cell blank where the supplier has not answered, rather than filling it from a similar model or from memory. The cheaper line is not cheaper if the base, the electrician or the guarantee is sitting outside it.
